What audio credits are
Every time Offbook generates AI voice audio (a new scene, a regenerated line, a narrator for stage directions), the characters of text being converted to speech count toward your monthly allowance:
- Starter: 50,000 characters / month
- Pro: 100,000 characters / month
- Premium: 200,000 characters / month
For scale: a typical two-person, 3-page scene is roughly 3,000 to 5,000 characters of other-character dialogue, so even Starter covers a lot of scenes. Practicing costs nothing; once a scene's audio exists, you can rehearse it unlimited times.
Reading the usage meter
The credits indicator in the app shows how much of your allowance you've used, with your reset date. It changes color as you go: green, then yellow at 70%, orange at 90%, and red when you've hit the limit. You can see a detailed breakdown anytime on the Usage page.
What happens at the limit
If a scene needs more audio than you have left, you'll see "Monthly usage limit reached" with exactly how much the scene needs versus what remains. Nothing is lost. Your scene is saved, and you can:
- Wait for your allowance to reset on your next billing date, then generate, or
- Upgrade your plan for a bigger monthly allowance.
Making your allowance go further
- Trim scripts to just the scenes you're actually rehearsing before uploading.
- Use Trim Audio to fix timing issues instead of regenerating a line.
- Keep stage directions on Hidden or Silent if you don't need them narrated.
